Written by Stephen Butchard, Five Daughters was a BBC mini-series that starred McClure, alongside the likes of Ian Hart, Sarah Lancashire, Jaime Winstone and Juliet Aubrey.

The three-part drama focused on the victims and families of the Ipswich serial murders, commonly known as the slayings by the Suffolk Strangler, looking into how they coped in the aftermath of the tragedy.

One of McClure's most iconic roles is that of Lol, which she took up in all three of the This Is England mini-series, following her guest role in the movie of the same name. The character is unlike any other that she has played; Lol is a young skinhead who works as a factory worker, before becoming a single mother and a prominent member of the Skinhead gang.

As the natural leader of the women in the group, she's someone many look up to, but is very secretive about her past. Audiences would discover that she had an abusive father through visions, which were brought on from post-traumatic stress disorder.

McClure played the role with excellence, propelling her acting status to an all-new level.

5. Broadchurch (2013)

When people think back about ITV crime drama, Broadchurch, the first names to come to mind are Olivia Colman and David Tennant. A rewatch of the first series however, and you'll quickly come to realise that McClure is the female reporter looking to scoop the story of what's going on in the usually quiet coastal village.

4. The Secret Agent (2016)

If you're not a fan of period dramas, you probably missed McClure's turn as Winnie Verloc in BBC series, The Secret Agent. Though she's wed to Mr Anton Verloc, she didn't tie the knot because she was in love. Instead, she wanted to provide a stable home for her mother and autistic brother, so they could escape the clutches of her abusive father.
