As it's National Bring Your Dog to Work Day, Tails.com has found that taking a dog to work can reduce the stress of the owner, improve morale within the office and increase productivity.

If work will allow!

If work will allow!

40% of Brits who work say that their dog makes them feel less stressed and over half would be more inclined to stay with a company with a pet friendly office policy.

According to Tails.com's Head Vet, Sean McCormack, the benefits extend to the animals too.

" Dogs are an extremely sociable species and they crave human attention. We know firsthand the benefits of having them running around the office for us, but actually, it's really good for their wellbeing to be amongst a variety of people throughout the day. Dogs adore their owners and tend to be much happier when they're nearby, even if they're not getting all the attention that they're used to at the weekend."

Why having your dog at work is good for them:

The Commute

By taking your dog on your daily commute, they are able to experience new sights, smells and sounds. This increases their confidence in public places so they become totally at ease wherever you take them.

Happiness

Your dog is at its happiest when you're there so they will be much happier being by your side all day than having to wait for you at home.

Interaction

Their social skills will be greatly improved by interacting and greeting those you work with. They're more likely to embrace meeting strangers and become more outgoing in general. Dogs like to be the centre of attention and this ensures they always will be.

Playmates

If you're not alone in bringing your furry friend with you- your dog will have lots of other dogs to interact with so while you're working they can still have fun.

Mental stimulation

Physical exercise is one thing but they also need to exercise their brain. The social interactions throughout the day will keep them sharp and tire them out for when you get home- which in a dog's world is a mark of s successful day.
