Well lots of people have been disappointed about not being able to get Olympic tickets, but Paul McCartney certainly isn’t one of those people – we reckon that he has got tickets for exactly what he wanted. This is because of his performance at the Opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London last Friday night. It has come out that he got paid – not millions, not thousands, but just £1. If we all knew that Paul McCartney came that cheap, we’d have him sing a song or two at our birthday party or wedding! One thing that he did get from the Olympic organisers though, was tickets to what he wanted to see. After his performance last Friday of Hey Jude – which some thought was great, and left others begging for him to just hurry up and retire – he had a chat about what he got in return. He said: "They don't pay you to perform, but what does happen is you get tickets to events, so they asked me what I would ideally like to go to, and so I sent a little list.” And it may annoy a few people to hear that but at least he is actually a fan of sport. He said: "I'm a big fan of athletics, when that's on the TV, I don't go out, so the Olympic Games are great for that for me." Other acts that performed like Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Monkeys and Emeli Sande are also thought to have only been paid £1 for their massive performances. And, we hear that the only reason they even got a £1 was because it was to do with contract obligations. Whilst there were mixed views over how well Paul McCartney performed, the others did get lots of praise – especially Emeli Sande, who sung with no backing track or help from an instrument, just completely on her own.
