The average cost of a wedding cake is now coming in at around £300! Recent research from Asda has revealed that 52% of brides-to-be would consider buying their wedding cake from the supermarket. Here’s why we think this is a great idea!

It's cheaper!

It's cheaper!

It’s cheaper- For those brides and grooms on a tight budget- it can bring your costs right down, so it’s worth considering if you don’t have a lot of money to play with for your big day.

It’s ideal if you would rather spend your money elsewhere- If the cake isn’t as important to you as some other element of your day- you can spend the money on something that means more to you and will leave you with cherished memories.

It will get eaten- You may be able to retain other keepsakes from your day, but your cake isn’t one of them. When it comes down to it- you are going to chop it up into little pieces, which can be devastating if you have spent a large sum of money on it. This way you can feel less guilty and enjoy the process.

You will still get the shot you want- Whether the cake has cost you £1000 or £100- you can still be photographed next to it for your album- the price doesn’t take away the inevitability of this moment.

You still have the same choice of flavour- Supermarkets will cater to your needs- if you would rather have lemon cake than fruit cake- they can accommodate so you don’t have to call on a specialist baker to have a generous variety.

No one will know- If you don’t tell your guests- they will be hard pushed to notice as the quality looks just as good as something that has cost the earth. And if they do ask- you can pleasantly surprise them!

It takes the pressure off- If the cost of a cake has made you consider calling in a favour from a mum, auntie or friend- you no longer have to worry. You can get the cake you want for a fraction of the average price and remove the burden from the person you wanted to ask.

It tastes the same- People don’t know if they are eating an expensive or a budget friendly cake when they are given a piece at the end of the wedding breakfast, so what’s the point in spending more if everyone will enjoy it just as much?

They are easier to transport- If you opt for clean lines, less fuss and a cake that is already boxed up- you don’t have to worry about it falling apart during transportation. It is protected and ready just to pull out of the box- one less thing for you to fret over.

It saves precious time- Rather than spending hours on designing your masterpiece- you can choose something from the existing range that already compliments your wedding colours- leaving you to focus on more important details.
