Wilder met Webb when he was preparing for his role as a deaf man in See No Evil, Hear No Evil. She was the clinical supervisor for the New York League for the Herd of Hearing and taught him how to lip read.

After the death of Gilda Radner, Wilder's third wife, the pair reconnected and married on the 8th September 1991.
They lived together in in Stamford, Connecticut in the 1734 Colonial home that he once shared with Radner, until he sadly died on the 29th August 2016.
When asked why he stopped doing movies- he said; 'I like writing books. I'd rather be at home with my wife. I can write, take a break, come out, have a glass of tea, give my wife a kiss, and go back in and write some more. It's not so bad. I am really lucky.' (IMDB)
