In 2002, Stern reportedly said on his radio show that 'marriage' was no longer in his vocabulary after his divorce from Alison Stern. He admitted that although he was in love with his then girlfriend Beth, they had no plans to live together. He vowed that he would only share a house with his daughters at that point.

He must have changed his mind, as Ostrosky was engaged to Stern by February 13th 2007. He proposed with a 5.2 carat engagement ring.
They married at Le Cirque restaurant in New York City on 3rd October 2008 and she changed her last name to Stern.
