What did they buy for their wedding guests?

I got married this year and I bought my husband nothing, thankfully he did the same. We decided that with all the money spent on the wedding and the rest of our lives to buy each other gifts, it seemed a little excessive.

But for celebs, this is a time to break out the unique and extremely expensive expressions of love- we find out what some of them came up with to buy for each other and to ask of their guests.

Toasters, silver cake cutters and department store vouchers are not enough for these couples- let us hope that we never get invited to one of their parties then.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Jolie bought Pitt a typewriter that belonged to Ernest Hemmingway. Originally she wanted one that was previously owned by Tennessee Williams but decided on Hemingway’s instead as he write some of this most famous books on it such as For Whom the Bell Tolls.

George and Amal Clooney

What do you buy the man who has everything? Amal opted for 12 handmade cocktail glasses from Venice and a 12 piece set of matching silk napkins and holders. The set cost $3,700 and are replicas of the sets that are used in Clooney’s favourite hotel Ciprini, where the couple were wed.

Every time a glass passes his lips he will be reminded of his wedding day. Awwww.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

West commissioned a nude portrait of Kim and called it the ‘perfect b**ch.’ She has nothing on but a g-string, Louboutin shoes and a smile. Having seen the latest cover of Paper magazine- it’s no surprise she agreed to this.

Keira Knightley and James Righton

Righton gave Keira an olive tree, which he paid a smooth £3,000 for was 100 years old. He engraved the couple’s initials onto it and planted it in the back garden of her farmhouse in the south of France.

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

Hathaway got a cow when she married Shulman- after PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) were overjoyed that she opted for an entirely vegan menu at their wedding, so they sponsored a calf named Peter for her.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry

PETA also gave the couple bull named Russell who lives in India following their vegan wedding feast.

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker

Longoria had Tiffany cocktail stirrers at her registry for each of her guests, costing $100 each- God forbid someone dropped their glass.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

On their wedding day in 2006, Cruise bought Holmes a $13 million Gulfstream Jet, with all the bells and whistles including a internet access and a camera. Wonder who got that in the split?

Stella McCartney and Alasdhair Willis

They asked their wedding guests to buy them trees as they wanted a forest in the grounds of the house in Worcester.

Kim Kardashian

In her first marriage, she asked for gold napkin rings and a set of Torchon salad serving spoons at a jaw dropping $880 from her guests! I don’t think you can buy them in Debenhams!

Princess Diana and Charles

One- yes you heard right- one of the Princesses’ gifts was a £500,000 diamond embellished model boat. As you do…..

Channing and Jenna Dewan Tatum

They were little more considerable of other people on their wedding day and offered a basket full of handkerchiefs for their guests to blubber into. Cry- you must cry!
