Why is having the perfect set of teeth so important on your wedding day?

The perfect smile is no longer just for the A-list celebrity - everyone wants to look their best and this is no more important than on the happiest day of your life, your wedding day.

Let's face it there's no other day when you'll spend the entire day grinning for the cameras and the resulting pictures will be on family walls wherever you go for years to come. There'll be annual re-runs of the wedding video and one day you'll be showing the pictures to your own kids.

We can offer all solutions to make you picture perfect from whitening to invisible braces, the key is getting your consultation early so that we can prescribe the best treatment to get the results you want and give you the confidence you need.

Helen Skelton had invisible braces for her big day, so what are they for those who don't know?

The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will adjust - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to perfection.

Helen was able to view her treatment at the outset on a virtual 3D treatment plan (ClinCheck) which showed the series of movements her teeth would go through over the course of the treatment. This meant she was able to see upfront what result she could expect.

And, with the braces being practically invisible and removable they didn't impact on her filming and work commitments.

How long does the process take?

The number of aligners needed varies according to case severity, with most patients wearing between 18 and 30 aligners. Each is worn for two weeks and then swapped with the next aligner in the series.

Each aligner is slightly different in order to move the teeth gradually. We will ask you to visit the clinic every 6 weeks to keep an eye on your progress and check that you are happy with how treatment is progressing. You should remove your aligners to eat, drink and maintain oral hygiene. At the end of the process you will be in possession of a beautiful smile.

What other services are on offer for brides and grooms before their big day?

It's not just brides and grooms we've had coming in for appointments, we've had whole wedding parties. Mothers of the brides and grooms want to have that perfect smile as well. Whereas bridesmaids and ushers tend to opt for whitening for that extra sparkle.

We offer full, no obligation consultations, we can discuss needs and wants and then work out a time plan to see what's achievable.

When should you arrange an appointment if you are looking to get something done?

With most weddings being planned 3 years in advance, there's plenty of time. We would suggest a minimum of 12 months depending on the severity of the case. That said there are treatments available including C-fast and wire braces that get amazing in just six months. Teeth whitening courses can be started a mere weeks before the big day.

Do you find a lot of celebrities who are opting to get this treatment done for their big day?

Invisalign is perfect for celebrities as it doesn't interrupt or disturb their filming and work schedules. What's more they can remove the aligners for photo shoots or red carpet appearances.

Please can you tell us a bit about your background.

When I founded Smile Stylist, it was my aim to create a place that was the 'go to' destination for beautiful and natural smiles.

I understand the difference a beautiful smile can make to a person's confidence and believe a great smile is the first step in anyone's positive projection. I'm always eager for patients to be completely involved in the treatment process to help them reach their goals in a safe and sensible manner. Your teeth and smile are hugely important, no decision should be taken lightly and certainly no corners cut.

I'm honoured to be one of only a handful of dentists in the UK to be awarded Diamond Status by Invisalign - the highest level achievable. The award is based on the number of Invisalign cases completed in a calendar year, and is an indication of a dentist's knowledge and experience.

I've also performed over 3000 teeth whitening cases using a number of different techniques and methods. Even teeth whitening is not a 'one size fits all' - It's important to take into consideration a number of factors including lifestyle and of course expectation before prescribing the best solution.

I want to make visiting the dentist a pleasurable experience and put anyone at ease instantly, even in the dentist chair!

With its unique brand of affordable cosmetic dentistry, Smile Stylist is the number one cosmetic dentist in the UK. With 7 clinics in both the Midlands and North West, Smile Stylist is fast becoming the trusted go to for perfect smiles every time.
