Victoria Milan asked its members the top five reasons why marriages fail so we find out why.

Founder and CEO of Victoria Milan, Sigurd Vedal, said it seems the fairy-tale dream of finding that one true love is dying out fast.

“Only 19% of our members told us they do believe in happily-ever-after marriages – however, these survey respondents are actively cheating online.  Keeping the modern day marriage alive and well takes a lot more effort these days, and a little bit of naughtiness and window-shopping along the way can help keep the relationship alive,”

A third of Brits stated that they no longer believe in fairy-tale endings, despite what all the films lead us to believe. Half of its member said that marriage can only last under one condition- that cheating is allowed by one or both members of the pairing.

5 Reasons marriages don't last:

Hedonism: It is suggested that people are more selfish now and believe that being single is much more fun then being in a relationship- singles tend to live in the moment and embrace pleasure so the whole lifestyle is a more appealing option. Marriage of course does not slot in with this way of living.

Tolerance: Partners are seemingly less tolerant than they were when they first got together with their partner. In years gone by marriage was a lifelong promise, where irritants were endured and accepted, but ending the marriage because of them was not the done thing- now it is.

Replacements: 20% of cheaters said that finding a replacement for their partner was easy with the help of online services such as Victoria Milan. Being alone is no longer likely with dating sites such as this at everyone’s fingertips. Why suffer the company of someone you no longer like when it’s easy to find an alternative?

Divorce is easy: It’s not taboo and it’s an easy way out- for a lot of the time it can be quite cut and dry. Entering into another marriage is no longer frowned upon, so having a more lax attitude to marriage is socially acceptable.

Change: People crave differences in their experiences and although families and partners may not approve- that is not stopping cheaters seeking something new.

The notion of one true love is leaving us behind as more and more cheaters are having between 2-6 serous relationships in a lifetime compared to just one in the good old days. Times are a changing- will you keep up or stick with tradition?
