720 runners, dressed as Gorillas, 7km of London streets, A September Saturday afternoon, And the most fun way to raise money. It can only be the London Great Gorilla Run 2008.

On Saturday 27th September, 720 people dressed as gorillas will take to the streets of London to take part in an event that rivals all others - the very furry, very funny 2008 Great Gorilla Run - the gorillas are definitely coming!

Hundreds of fun-loving, gorilla friendly people from all over the world will dress up in their free gorilla suits and run (or walk!) 7km to raise much-needed funds for the London based charity, the Gorilla Organization.

This year, there will be 720 places for Great Gorilla runners - one runner for every remaining Mountain gorilla - if the places are filled, the 2008 Great Gorilla Run will break the Guinness World Record for the most people dressed up in gorilla suits in one place at one time!

Registration for the event is now open www.greatgorillas.org.

Neil Bridgland, the Great Gorilla Run manager said: "Last year’s Great Gorilla Run was a huge success, we raised over £250k for the Gorilla Organization and everyone who took part had a ball!

"We have even more exciting plans for this year’s run, and with more places available it is going to be even bigger and better than ever before!"

Alison Thomas, 2007 Great Gorilla Runner said about last year’s event: "It is one of those days that you never forget - surreal, hilarious, and 100% worthwhile - big it up for the gorillas."

Everyone who registers for the Great Gorilla Run receives a free gorilla suit (the perfect fundraising tool!) and is asked to raise £400 in sponsorship for the endangered gorillas.

All proceeds from the Great Gorilla Run help fund the Gorilla Organization’s projects in central Africa (www.gorillas.org).
