Women of the Future Awards

Women of the Future Awards

The search to unearth Britain’s female talent of tomorrow begins with the launch of the Women of the Future Awards 2011.

Founded by Pinky Lilani OBE in 2006 with Caspian Media, and supported by Shell, the awards celebrate the next generation of Britain’s high-potential women aged 35 and under who are making an impact in business, the arts, science and technology.

This year, a new category has been introduced - the Woman of the Future in Public Service - which will acknowledge female volunteers, charity employees and public-sector workers who are making a difference in their fields.

With Her Royal Highness Princess Zahra Aga Khan and Cherie Blair as patrons, the mission of the Women of the Future Awards is to spotlight young talent and create new, positive role models for future generations.

Last year’s winners included Thea Green, founder of Nails Inc, and Lisa Smosarski, launch editor of ‘freemium’ magazine Stylist.

In previous years, Women of the Future Awards have been presented to; Sam Smith, founder and chief executive of finCapp; Stacey Lax, one of the youngest partners at advisory firm Ernst and Young; Alix Pryde, who since winning a Woman of the Future Award has gone on to become director of BBC distribution; as well as Melody Hossaini, co-founder of the UK Youth Parliament, and contestant on this year’s series of the BBC’s The Apprentice.

Founder Pinky Lilani said: "The Women of the Future Awards not only recognise and award outstanding British women but they also inspire and encourage a young generation of women to believe in themselves and aim for the very best.

"This year’s awards will unearth some of the most brilliant, innovative and creative women this country has to offer.

"We’re looking for women who have really pushed the boundaries and made a significant contribution to their field.

"We're encouraging our young women to stand proud and put themselves forward. Likewise if you know of a deserving winner then I would strongly encourage you to nominate them for these very special awards."

The closing date for entries is Wednesday September 21, 2011, with the awards ceremony taking place at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Wednesday November, 16, 2011.

The Women of the Future Awards are hosted by Real Business magazine, in association with Shell.
