Amelia asks :

I keep laughing whenever my boyfriend tries to kiss me. We've been going out for six weeks and we've kissed a few times but most times as soon as his mouth is on mine I start laughing and have to pull away in a fit of giggles. He's my first boyfriend and kiss but I don't know if I am just nervous, he is a bad kisser or I am?

Hi Amelia,

Laughter is usually a result of extreme nervousness, which might arise from your inexperience being a couple and at kissing. The more you practice the easier it will become. Try not to put too much pressure on the kiss, don't stage yourself for it. It should be spontaneous, where you have little time to prepare for it.

It doesn't mean that either of you are bad kissers; it just means that you are both equally as nervous. What do you think about when you are kissing? Try and focus on something other than the situation, as it sounds like the pressure of it is making you crumble. The only way you can reassure yourself that you are any good it just to do it. If you mess it up, that is all part of being in a couple- you learn each other's likes and dislikes through mistakes, so don't worry too much if it takes you a while to get it right.

Why not try just a short kiss on the lips to ease you in rather than a full on snog. Once you get used to this you may feel more adventurous about taking it a little further.
