Lower back pain is a common complaint for many people and if you search for ‘yoga exercises that relieve back pain’ on the internet there are several suggestions to help you, unless you have a slipped disc or sciatica. Both sedentary people and athletes suffer from back pain, however if you work in an office, a day of sitting; at your computer, eating lunch, driving to and from work, might not be helping your problem. Perhaps a change in chair or making a conscious effort to get up and take a walk during your working day might benefit you some.

Before taking up and exercise, I would suggest making a trip to your doctor if this has been an ongoing problem.

Exercise might exacerbate the pain if you are doing the wrong sort, which could aggravate whatever it is that is causing your discomfort.

The doctor should be able to tell you the reason for the pain but also advise you on the level and duration of physical activity you can do without making your problem worse. There are so many conditions that this could be a sign of that it probably better to be safe than sorry and get checked out first.
