Damonte B asks :

Hi Lucy,

I have really got a talent in making music, but I don't know how to make myself known. What should I do?

I would suggest putting some of your work on You Tube. A lot of artists have been discovered this way- take Justin Bieber for example and look how successful he has been.

Maybe set up a website with some of your videos and a bit about yourself. Set up a Twitter account and start liking other members who are interested in the field. The same for Facebook, that way your posts on there might be picked up by those who are interested in new artists. Maybe try and get some free gigs in pubs so people get used to seeing and hearing you. You might not get any income at first, however this might change if you start to get a name for yourself.

The music business is difficult to break into so you need to be determined that this is what you want to do and make the most of every opportunity. Why not send demo out of your stuff to some studios and see if you get any feedback that way too? Ask around your friends and family- does anyone have any contacts in the music business?

It might take time, so you will need to be patient, but with persistence and belief in yourself, you could have the potential to share your music with willing listeners.
