im 19 and havnt had sex with my boyfriend for about a year now. i love him more than anything but i have no sexual desire...ive been so depressed about the whole thing could it be because of my implanon? our relationship is now really rocky how can i be normal again?

Yin replies

Any contraceptives can affect sexual desire and it looks as though this one has for you, why not go back to your doctor and talk things through? Ask to be moved onto something else that may not have this affect. It’s all a game of trial and error to find the one that suits you best, but it sounds like this one is not the one for you.

Yang replies

Other things can also affect your sex drive, such as food and our health. What do you eat? If you consume a lot of food with a high content of sugar and refined ingredients this can make you feel sluggish and reduce your desire for sex. Are you a healthy weight? Do you exercise? If you are overweight and don’t exercise this can also trigger low energy levels and therefore reduce the likelihood of you wanting sex. Eat fresh foods with no additives and take some regular exercise to get your endorphins going and you will soon feel back in the mood to rekindle things with your partner.
