To celebrate the release of The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best (Released in cinemas 20th July) we’re going to take a trip back to the 80’s (which is ALWAYS a good thing) and have a look at the members of the ‘Brat Pack'.

From Andrew Mccarthy (Who stars as older brother to aspiring musician Alex Ryan O’Nan In The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best) to Demi Moore, let’s have a look back at their career highlights and how the ‘Brat Pack’ propelled their career to a pathway of success.

- Andrew Mccarthy

Andrew McCarthy rose to fame in the 80’s, following up his breakout role in Class (1983) with appearances in Weekend at Bernie’s, Pretty in Pink and Less than Zero.

Thanks to his charming looks, he consistently played the role of a sincere guy who could do no wrong; he even starred in Disney production The Beniker Gang! 1985 saw Andew Mccarthy dip his toes in the world of Broadway in The Boys of Winter but the end of the 80’s McCarthy returned to the big screen and Hollywood starring in Fresh Horses and Kansas alongside Matt Dillon

Most recently, McCarthy has been working predominantly in television starring in Lipstick Jungle, White Collar and Gossip Girl.

- Rob Lowe

Starring alongside Andrew Mccarthy in Class, Rob Lowe’s career also sparked to life in the 80’s. Whilst he is undoubtedly best known for his role as Sam Seaborn in The West Wing, Lowe owes a lot to the 80’s for putting him in the limelight of casting directors around the world.  W

hilst Class inevitably put him on the radar, his real breakthrough came in 1983, starring alongside Emilio Estevez in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders.

Lowe starred in The West Wing for a brilliant 7 years from 1999-2006 - Proceeding The West Wing, Lowe has also starred in Jason Reitman’s Thank you for Smoking, The Austin Powers trilogy and Ricky Gervais’s directorial debut The Invention of Lying.

- Demi Moore

Demi Moore started her career at the young age of 16 modelling throughout Europe. She had her first taste of working in film in 1981 (Choices) and went on to star in 9 feature films in the 80’s including the role of Jules in St.Elmo’s Fire alongside Andrew Mccarthy, Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez.

By 1990, Demi’s career was propelled by her role of Molly Jensen in Ghost as she went on to achieve the status of ‘Hollywood’s highest paid actress’.

Moore also has experience in television starring in Ellen (1997) and Will and Grace (2003).

Over the past decade, Moore has starred in an array of films most notably Charlie’s Angels and Margin Call, continuing to cement her position as one of the most influential actors in the industry.

- Emilio Estevez

Son of Martin Sheen, Estevez is a multi-talented director, actor and writer - often credited as the leader of the brat pack, Estevez starred in The Outsiders, The Breakfast Club and St.Elmo’s Fire.

Towards the end of the 80’s, Estevez went on to star in Western productions Young Guns and Young Guns II alongside Kiefer Sutherland and his brother Charlie Sheen.

Moving on from the 80’s Estevez has focussed on his passion for directing - Examples include Wisdom, Men at Work, The War at Home, Bobby and The Public.

Emilio’s most recently production The Way starred his father Martin Sheen as the lead actor.

The Way tells a story of heartbroken father Tom Avery(Martin Sheen) who recently lost who his son in a storm whilst walking the pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago (The way of St.James).

In homage to his son, Tom walks the Camino de Santiago and rediscovers his purpose in life.

- Anthony Michael Hall

Anthony Michael Hall’s career was sparked by television commercials’, starring as the honeycomb cereal kid and the face of bounty chocolate bar...it was as if Hall was born to be in front of the camera.

Following the success of his roles in Six Pack (1982) and Sixteen (1984) Hall went on to act in numerous ‘teen’ films in the 1980’s with Breakfast Club cementing him as a member of the ‘brat pack’.

Since his glory days, Hall has starred as the Gotham City News Host in Blockbuster The Dark Knight and in popular television comedy show Community.

The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best is released in cinemas July 20th
