Fisherman in Russia are demanding a probe into a number of deaths in a remote Siberian lake - rumoured to be caused by a mystery creature.

The animal - dubbed Nesski for its similarity to the Loch Ness monster - is said to have been responsible for the death of a 59-year-old man last week.

Vladmir Golishev - who was watching from the shore of Lake Chany - said: "I was with my friend... some 300 yards from the shore. He hooked something huge on his bait and he stood up in the boat to reel it in.

"But it pulled with such force that he overturned the boat. I was in shock - I had never seen anything like it in my life."
