This February the Roundhouse welcomes songstress Ana Silvera for Oracles, a specially commissioned performance featuring the landmark arts venue’s experimental choir.

Based upon the arc of fairy tales, Oracles begins with a deep loss, an exile, which through the slow, difficult action of love resolves into acceptance. Silvera's rich, melodic songs are inspired by and draw upon her own eventful life, as well as referencing mythical and historical tales for her lively narratives. A London-born multi-instrumentalist, she has just released her debut single Hometown.

“As I wrote the song cycle for the Roundhouse, I realised I have actually been composing for years with a choir singing in the back of my head”, says Silvera. “So it's so exciting to be bringing my imaginings to life.”

The Roundhouse concerts, which run from the 2nd-4th February, mark the latest achievement in a promising career. With a critically acclaimed concert at London’s prestigious Purcell Room, and a recent performance on BBC Radio 3, Ana Silvera has garnered international praise.

She has collaborated with New York scene-leaders Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright) and Maxim Moston (Antony and the Johnsons) and has worked in London with Ray Singer (Peter Sarstedt, Joan Armatrading). As part of the Roundhouse concerts, Silvera joins forces with composer Alex Curtis.

To mark this Roundhouse first, producer Kate Church, formerly of the South Bank Show will be making a short documentary on Silvera’s work. Scenes from the film will be available to view in advance of the concerts on anasilvera.com/oracles. A press release will be issued when the site goes live.
