Juliette Binoche says acting is similar to ''peeling an onion'' and thinks she has got better at her profession the more roles she has had.

Juliette Binoche thinks acting is like "peeling an onion".

The 47-year-old French actress believes her performances have got better as she has gotten older because her portrayals have grown in their accuracies of true life.

She said: "The more you act, the more you live, your perception of life becomes more and more accurate.

"It's like peeling onions, you know? You're peeling and peeling until you try to arrive at a sort of transparency."

The 'Chocolat' star also spoke of her belief that women are naturally very creative, particularly as they get older.

She added: "Women are so creative. They're born creative, not only because they have babies, but because there's a blossoming to find inside us. Especially around 40 years old."

Juliette insists she is not a feminist as she thinks considering things in terms of gender makes people stereotype even more.

She said: "Do I consider myself a feminist? No. Aware of my feminine and masculine parts, sure. But that term just puts people in a stereotyped way of thinking.

"I think creation and doing, being active, is more important than talking about it."
