Kings Of Leon

Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill was so frightened of success, he deliberately sabotaged his band's early tracks by singing badly in the studio.

The Sex on Fire rocker admits he was "insecure" during the group's early days and refused to co-operate with requests from their record company bosses and, during recording sessions for their debut album Youth & Young Manhood, Followill purposely tried to ruin songs that label executives thought would be big hits.

He tells Britain's Q magazine, "It was... at the time when I was saying no to everything so when I knew that the record label liked the song, I made sure I f**ked it up vocally so they couldn't make a hit out of it.

"California Waiting was a hit. I made them let me go back and re-record it and I f**ked up the vocal bad on purpose. And Wasted Time, I f**ked up the vocal when I heard it was going to be a single. I went back and made sure that our success couldn't be immediate. I was so scared and so insecure."
