Ex The Byrds rocker Roger McGuinn has thwarted an attempt to reform the band - because he thinks the iconic band's legacy is best served as a happy memory. McGuinn confirms he has been offered lucrative deals to reunite the group over the years, but insists he'll never agree to join forces with his old bandmates for a tour, concert or album package. He tells Billboard.com, "(Bandmate) David Crosby has been trying to get me to go back and do The Byrds for years now. It seems to come up every six months or so. "It is not something that is impossible, but it's not something I'm comfortable doing as a gig."I have no problem with The Byrds... I see it as a great memory, and why mess it up by going out and doing it now just for money, because it would just be a cash grab."The five origional Byrds did reunite briefly in 1972 to make the reunion album Byrds. Although a tour was planned it never happened.
