Dame Diana Rigg

Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg is and English Actress and is best known for her portrayal of Emma Peel in TV series The Avengers and Theresa di Vicenzo in the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Born in Doncaster in 1938, Rigg spent time growing up in both Yorkshire and India. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and her professional debut came at the age of seventeen when she was in the Brechtian play The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

In 1987, she took a leading role in Sondheim’s musical Follies and she also appeared in several other productions like Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Suddenly Last Summer. In television she is best known for her roles in both The Avengers TV series and her role as a bond girl in the 1969 film.

She has been in several films including Evil Under the Sun, an adaptation of Snow White, Heidi and The Painted Veil.
