Christian Bale

Terminator Salvation's director McG has revealed that his leading man Christian Bale turned down the role when he was first approached with the project.

Speaking at the DGA Building at a preview of the film MCG said: "He told me to f*** off. Christian wasn't interested in pyrotechnics."

However after re-writes Bale was convinced to take up the role of John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators.

And Bale seems to be enjoying the blockbuster roles that are coming his way after the success of The Dark Knight last summer, which looks set to break through he $1 billion barrier with the re-release of the film on the run up to the Oscars.

Terminator Salvation, which is the fourth film in the Terminator series, is just one of Bale's movies to be released this summer as he teams up with Johnny Depp in Public Enemies.
