Matt Damon has called into question Oscar voters' ability to honour the correct movies come awards season suggesting that they don't always get it right.

In an interview with Parade the actor said:"I think that the best way to judge movies is, like, ten years after they're released. I think they should actually do the awards that way," he said.

"I think they should have done the Academy Awards this year for movies from 1998. I think it's better to look at a movie and then step back and look at it again."

He added: "I don't think that the awards necessarily get it right. I think they get it wrong more often than they get it right."

Damon won an Oscar backing 1997 alongside friend Ben Affleck for their Good Will Hunting script. Since then the Ocean's 11 and Bourne franchises have catapulted Damon to the top of the Hollywood tree.
