Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs is to be honoured with a special award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
The musician will awarded for his song writing skills during the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards which are going to take place in Los Angeles on 24 June.
Combs will be handed the Founders Award, following in the footsteps of other famous recipients including Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Smokey Robinson and Sir Paul McCartney.
The rapper admits he is delighted with the honour, telling Allhiphop.com in a statement,
"To be recognized for my contributions to music by ASCAP, an organization that represents music creators, is a true honour. All I wanted to do was make people dance and hopefully inspire others to never settle for anything but their best."
