Multi award-winning actor Benicio Del Toro discusses his film career and gives us an insight into his astounding performance in our Tiscali Gala film Che (Part 1 & Part 2).Benicio Del Toro’s acting has been described as fearless, magnetic and savagely emotional. He has garnered a reputation for being a director’s actor, perhaps because of his humble approach to his career, and appreciation for the collaborative nature of filmmaking. The respect he shows to everyone that he works with is undoubtedly why so many actors and directors have so much regard for him. Roles in such films as The Usual Suspects, Basquiat, Traffic (for which he picked up a slew of awards, including an Oscar, a Bafta and a Golden Globe) and 21 Grams, have cemented Del Toro’s place as one of the great actors of his generation. Through his role as Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara in CHE (Part 1 & Part 2) - which we are proud to present as our Tiscali Gala Screening - Del Toro renews his successful collaboration with Steven Soderbergh, which he began with Traffic, and his trademark meticulous research pays off to the point that he is the embodiment of Che on screen. So much of his performance is imbued with the philosophy of Che the man, his love of humanity, justice and truth. It is no wonder that such a powerful portrayal earned him the best actor award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Other recently announced additions to the Festival programme include the UK premieres of Spike Lee’s Miracle at ST. Anna and Jesús Ponce’s Lazy Days (Dejate caer), and the world premiere of Jeremy Deller and Nicholas Abrahams’ The Posters Came From The Walls, while Ralph Fiennes will receive The Variety UK Achievement in Film Award.Benicio Del Toro's talk takes place on Friday 24th October
