The Microsoft console boss doesn't seem to be worried about the competition to sales the upcoming gaming machine poses to the Xbox One and is as excited as most other pixel lovers at the prospect of a new adventure starring the moustached plumber.

Discussing the title on Twitter, he posted: "Mario looked new/fresh (sic)"

Spencer is also interested in trying out new Link-led RPG 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', insisting that from the previews he has seen it "should be great".

Despite working for Xbox, Spencer is a very public fan of Nintendo.

Last year, he took to Twitter to reveal his happiness at getting a Nintendo Classic Mini NES in the post.

Back in November tweeted: "Good day, look what showed up today @Nintendo. Very nice. (sic)"

The Nintendo Switch will hit stores on March 3 and the launch games will be 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', '1-2-Switch', 'Just Dance 2017', 'Skylanders Imaginators' and 'Super Bomberman R'.
