Max Azria was honoured for his fashion achievement at the third annual LA Fashion Awards on Friday.

The designer was awarded the Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award for his contribution to the LA fashion industry since he set up the popular California based mid-market label BCBG in 1989.

"We may be a worldwide brand, but this is home," said the designer as he collected his award in the refurbished Orpheum Theatre.

Other winners included Juan Carlos Obando who was given the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award and Fred Segal who was crowned Fashion Retailer of the Year

The ceremony was opened by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who paid tribute to the growing Los Angeles fashion indusrty before the presentation began. "Los Angeles designers have put LA in the centre of the fashion map," he said proudly, "This is where stars come to be born and where trends come to be born."

The seven Award presentations were interspersed with twenty video vignettes providing back-story on all of the nominees and honorees and five runway presentations showing off the latest capsule collections from Juan Carlos Obando, Jasmin Shokrian and Rami Kashou, plus a finale presentation by Max Azria.
