The album is his first since 2001’s highly acclaimed Point.Sensuous represents an intriguing development since Point with the emphasis placed on soaring atmospherics, creative soundscaping and ambient flourishes. Collaborations with Kings of Convenience on Omstart and Music provide two instant highlights whilst a cover of Dean Martin’s Sleep Warm concludes the album in soothing style.

Cornelius first came to prominence as part of the Tokyo-based duo Flipper’s Guitar who combined eighties British pop with a love for Beck, The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Cornelius went onto produce Pizzicato Five before issuing his debut solo album, The First Question Award, in 1994. His other solo albums are 69/96 (1995) and Fantasma (1997).

In the live arena, Cornelius has performed at the world’s biggest festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Coachella, Roskilde and the Montreux Jazz Festival as well as touring with The Flaming Lips, Air and South. He has also exhibited an audiovisual piece at the Barbican as well as providing the music for the Shhh… exhibition at the V&A.
