We are huge fans of Carey Mulligan here at FemaleFirst, and she is set return to the period drama with her next movie Far from the Madding Crowd.

Far From The Madding Crowd

Far From The Madding Crowd

Far from the Madding Crowd is the first big screen outing for the Oscar nominated actress since Inside Llewyn Davis at the beginning of 2014, as the Thomas Hardy novel has been adapted into a screenplay by David Nicholls.

The movie sees Thomas Vinterberg return to the director's chair for the first time since The Hunt - Far From The Madding Crowd will also mark the first time that the filmmaker has worked with Mulligan.

The brand new trailer for the film has been released and we have it for you to take a look at:

Nicholls penned novels Starter for 10 and One Day, has written film and television scripts for The 7.39, Great Expectations, and Tess of the D'Urbervilles in recent years. He also adapted both of his books Starter for 10 and One Day into scripts for the big screen.

Far From The Madding Crowd will see Mulligan take on the central role of Bathsheba Everdene and is joined on the cast list by Michael Sheen, Matthias Schoenaerts, Tom Sturridge, and Juno Temple.

Far From The Madding Crowd is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.

This timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love - as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.

Far From The Madding Crowd is released 1st May.
