Fury is to close the 58th BFI London Film Festival this autumn.

The David Ayer directed film will receive its European Premiere when it screens in Odeon Leicester Square on Sunday 19th October.

Ayer has written and directed the World War II movie, which sees him team up with Brad Pitt for the first time.

The director has brought us movies such as End of Watch and Harsh Times in recent years, but this is his second film of 2014 after Sabotage earlier this year.

Speaking about being picked to close the festival, Ayer said: "It is a great honour for our film to be chosen for the Closing Night celebration of the BFI London Film Festival - one of the leading festivals in Europe.

"It’s a true pleasure to be returning to England, where we shot the film - the fields of Oxfordshire and Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire were our home for 12 weeks last year, so it’s something of a homecoming for us to present the movie at its European premiere.

"I’m thrilled that Festival audiences will be among the first in Europe to see it."

Pitt is set to take on the central role of Wardaddy in the film, and is joined on the cast list by Logan Lerman, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Bernthal, Michael Pena, and Jason Isaacs.

The movie follows a Sherman tank crew as they find themselves on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.

Fury will hit the big screen on 24th October.

The 58th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express runs from Wednesday 8 October to Sunday 19 October.

The full programme for the Festival will be announced on Wednesday 3 September.
