John Travolta is "worried" about the future of cinema.
The 'Pulp Fiction' actor has revealed he is concerned that blockbuster fare such as superhero movies are dominating Hollywood, leaving little room for "character driven stories".
The actor admits he is not "a comic book guy" and likely wouldn't star in a big budget action movie like 'Iron Man' or 'Man of Steel', branding them "gimmick films".
Speaking to an audience at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London yesterday (25.06.13), he explained: "I am a little worried because the kind of films I've loved over the years are diminishing by this new wave of financing in films. I'm doing my best to make the kind of movies I respect and I'm going out of my way to target them. But the honest truth is... I think we'll see more gimmick films.
"The heyday of humane stories and character driven stories are limited. It's not that they're over, because good stories will always be told, but they are becoming limited."
Travolta's varied career has ranged from his star-making role in musical 'Grease' to the Quentin Tarantino classic, and more recently, action-thrillers like 'The Taking of Pelham 123'.
As well as giving a talk at the BFI, the star screened his latest movie 'Killing Season' while in London.
