Jackson has been playing the role of Nick Fury since Iron Man back in 2008, and is set to return to the role later this year with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Marvel have had a great couple of years with the likes of Avengers Assemble, Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier all enjoying critical and huge commercial success. Jackson believes that Marvel have found the secret to making these movies appealing and accessible to the public - which is something he believes DC has failed to do.

Speaking to MTV News, the actor said: "The Marvel Universe is huge. There's thousands of characters that they can access and use and do stuff with. I'm not surprised by that," he explained.

The actor continued:"It's been that way since we started reading comic books. Most of us that understand the comic book world know you can crossbreed and do all kinds of stuff... I think Marvel has figured out a way to make those movies accessible to the public [in a way] that DC hasn't. "I don't know what that is. I don't know why you can't get Batman and Superman together and have people as juiced up to be a part of that."

Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Solider were two of the highest grossing movies of 2014, and are now the third and fourth highest grossing Marvel films of all time.

As for Jackson, he is back later this year as he reunites with Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evens, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is the second Avengers film to hit the big screen.

As for Jackson, he is currently enjoying box office success with Kingsman: The Secret Service, and we are set to see him in the likes of Cell, Barely Lethal, Big Game and Tarzan this year.

However, earlier this month, Jackson revealed that he nearing the end of his Marvel contract. We are going to have to wait and see if that contract is extended.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released 23rd April.
