Turner is one of the new names to have been added to the cast list of the highly anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse, which will see her play a young Jean Grey.

The actress reveals that she is also going to turn to the comic books for some inspiration to play this much loved and complex character.

Speaking to IGN, the actress said; "I think Famke played Jean incredibly well, but also, I'm playing a younger version of her.

"I want to emulate Famke in a sense, because she has to seem like the Jean in the first two movies, but I'm also going to put my own twist on her. I think I'm also going to take inspiration from the comics. I don't know, we'll see."

X-Men: Apocalypse will be a sequel to the smash hit Days of Future Past, and will see James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult all return to the roles of Professor Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast.

However, Turner will not be the only new face on the cast list as Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan will play a young Storm and Cyclops. Oscar Isaac is also on board as Apocalypse, while Channing Tatum has been linked to the project as Gambit.

As for Turner, we are also going to be seeing her in movies Barely Lethal and Alone this year, and she will be back as Sansa Stark in the new series of Game of Thrones in April.

Bryan Singer is back in the director's chair for X-Men: Apocalypse, and filming is due to get underway this spring.

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May 2016.
