Stallone returned to the iconic role earlier this year in the Ryan Coogler directed boxing movie Creed; which enjoyed both critical and commercial success.

There is already talk of a possible sequel but Stallone admits that he is not sure if we will see the character of Rocky make a return.

Speaking to Variety, the actor said: "I really have mixed feelings about this, seriously. I feel like Rocky, at the end of this movie on the steps, with the help of a young man, and he looks out and says, 'From here, you can see your whole life' - it sort of summarizes the whole thing. I don't know how much further you can push Rocky."

Creed sees Stallone team up with Coogler for the first time while Michael B. Jordan was in the central role of Adonis Johnson.

The movie followed Johnson - the son of Apollo Creed - as he tries to find his own way in the boxing world; recruiting Rocky as his trainer. But the boxing legend faces a tough fight of his own.

Stallone's performance has been universally praised and the actor picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for her work. He has already won the Golden Globe and could triumph at the Oscars later this month.

However, the Best Supporting Actor category is a tough one as Stallone is nominated alongside Christian Bale (The Big Short), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), Tom Hardy )The Revenant), and Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight).

This is the third Oscar nomination of Stallone's career, picking up a Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay nod for Rocky back in 1977. He is yet to win.
