Amazon.co.uk Review If you don't care too much for Adam Sandler's comedies, then II Now Pronounce You Chuck Larry/I is absolutely not the film to convert you. But if you are one of the many who continually enjoys his films, then his latest is well worth checking out. P II Now Pronounce You Chuck Larry/I sees Sandler as Chuck and Kevin James as Larry, a pair of firefighters who become domestic partners to help protect the latter's children. It perhaps goes without saying that this is a reluctant union, and Sandler's character goes to great lengths to demonstrate the fact that he's heterosexual. Yet if you can tolerate the cheapness of much of the material, it's hard not to find yourself chuckling at it. P The film boasts a supporting cast including the likes of Jessica Biel (as a conveniently attractive lawyer), Ving Rhames and Steve Buscemi, and does manage to consistently serve up the laughs. It also finds room to squeeze in Dan Aykroyd and Rob Schneider as well. P And while there's nothing particularly clever about II Now Pronounce You Chuck Larry/I, it very much does what it offers on the proverbial tin. It's Sandler, in a fish out of water situation, reacting against it. Switch your brain and sensitivities off, and you may well have a ball with it. --IJon Foster/I

The movie has a great sound track that will take you back. To understand this film you need UNDERSTANDING that's how you roll in our house BABY. Laughs come with understanding people you know and people you love straight or gay..that is the film unique in it's own way... anyway I loved it, people that don't are either too young or will in time, that is the beautie in this film take a step out beyond what you see and be Real..(with everyone even yourself)..five 0 ...
I haven't laughed so hard in years! January 12, 2008 Top Cat (Somewhere in England, apparently) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was sceptical upon receiving this film (I work at Blockbuster = Pre Releases!) with in the back of my mind, a thought of some dull films that Adam Sandler's been in (Little Nicky for example, which I really can't see why people like it)
br /But the truth is, this is the most entertaining film i've seen in such a long time, which is quite refreshing in an age were films are thrown at us right, left and centre.
br /The plot is straightforward enough, and ultimately when you hear of it, you know you're in for a laugh. Chuck and Larry both work on the same shift as Fire Fighters in town, and have done for a decade since first joining. Chuck however is struggling to cope with financial demands that his children place on him, now that his wife has passed away, and because he can't claim benefits, the only way he can get round the court is to re-marry. But still grieving for the loss of his wife, he's un-willing to settle for another lady... but theirs always a best friend in mind called Larry!
br /Reluctantly, Larry marries in one of the most laughable scenes of the film - a cheap road-side marriage chapel, in which a rather randomly placed Chinese minister weds them. But can they hold their silence on, what they hoped to be, temporary gay status?...
br /The chemistry between these two actors is excellent, and I was pleased with Sandler's performance. I myself don't rate as one of the best actors to have graced Hollywood; mainly because he doesn't use his eyes alot, but his role in this film was simply irreplaceable. The jokes and events that happen when they both live together is fantastic, and will have you in stitches when Chuck starts to live with Larry's mail in the morning, proving he's anything but gay (certain video's and inflatable dolls!)
br /It's the restriction of being straight that makes the 2 main characters so funny in this film - we know they're straight, and Chuck's lawyer, who Larry (and I) find pretty sexy, doesn't help matters by inviting him on "girly" shopping trips, and then back home after getting soaked in the rain, noyl to find himself in the 'comfort' of her getting un-changed. The next part will just have you in absolute tears!
br /
br /It's been quite a good year for films, which makes a change from the glut of boring or CGI crammed movies from lately. Actually, the only thing that was different this year was originality - Transformers was a good take off the original series, Die Hard 4.0 proved Bruce Willis can still fight 'blubber' even when hitting middle age, and this film, which I just now call "Chuck and Larry" for short, proves we can still make highly entertaining films without a plot as thin as paper. If you're looking for a great laugh, I can't recommend this highly enough!

Best film I've seen for ages! January 18, 2008 Maris Crane (Devon) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
All the family loved this film! It gave us lots of laughs, didn't drag and a good cast. But then I love fart jokes! Compared to the awful Deck the Halls which I saw last week this was a positive masterpiece.

Well, I thought this was one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. the people who have only given it one star must have a very English sense of humour. Brilliant and well worth seeing. A*
