5 out of 5 stars The Voice is back!   November 3, 2008

Christina is without a doubt the voice of our generation. Here she releases her greatest hits along with a collection of her finest videos. br / br /The main singles such as Genie In A Bottle and Dirty are on there but some of her big UK hits like Can't Hold Us Down and Car Wash aren't. Neither are Tilt Ya Head Back or Reflection. Her break through single. But it's still a must have. Keeps Getting Better see's Christina return to her pop roots while You Are What You Are, while lets say. Daring. Is a taster of what's to come with her new album, due for release in Summer 2009.

5 out of 5 stars The diva of her generation   November 18, 2008

You can argue about who's been most successful or who has the most stage presence, but when it come to sheer vocal ability Christina has her peers beat hands down. It's amazing that this voice can come out of such a tiny woman, but vocally she's more than a match for the likes of Aretha, Patti and Whitney. br / br /This Greatest Hits album not only shows off her power but also her versatility - from her pop beginnings she's moved on and tried her hand at jazz, blues, rock, RnB and everything in between. Even her teen pop is catchier and has more bite than your average commercial throwaways, but in songs like Fighter and Beautiful she shows off true soul and grit as an artist. The new stuff that's included is very electro pop, very 'now' and just as good as any of her back catalogue, with her showing off a slightly more pared down vocal than her usual high riffs. The one and only low point on the album is the strange remake of Beautiful, a gorgeous song that frankly did not need messing with - but even that's oddly listenable, and when the worst you can say of this diva is that a song is okay rather than her usual excellent you know she'll be sticking around. That voice will ensure she does so here's to the next ten years. br / br /Personal favourite - Fighter and Candyman. The first for its brilliant Dave Navarro guitar and amazing vocal, the second for its sheer retro fun

4 out of 5 stars I am reviewing the 4 new songs...   November 9, 2008

everyone has heard her music and can make their own minds up whether they like these songs - they have all been released! I am instead looking at her new music, which is featured on this cd. As a humongous fan I am pretty happy to get 4 new songs, but are they any good? The two brand new track 'Dynamite' and 'keeps gettin' better' are very good, expressing a new singing and lyrical style that is fun and fresh. The two new/old songs 'Genie 2.0' and 'You are what you are (beautiful)' aren't quite as good as the new ones. 'Genie 2.0' works well, but 'you are what you are' is a bit weird and a bit boring (after a few listens) and feels really glum. which is a bit of a contradiction to what the message of the song is. I like that Christina has gone back to her past and revamped her most successful songs in her future style. Its both a retrospect of her career and a look into the future of it. good job!

4 out of 5 stars Overall good retrospective   November 15, 2008

Almost 10 years have passed since Christina Aguilera burst on to the music scene with "Genie In A Bottle". Celebrating this she has released her first retrospective compilation CD. Music fans should recognise most of the tracks on here as they all became hits, some bigger than others. There is a lot of variety musically on this CD, as her styles have changed from album to album. Unfortunately a few of her hits are missing, most notably, "Can't Hold Us Down", "Car Wash" and "Tilt Ya Head Back". It's also a shame that the entire track listing isn't in chronological order, for instance "Beautiful" was released before "Fighter", and "Hurt" was released before "Candyman". All things considered a good collection and one that I will enjoy for years to come. A must for all Christina fans, and especially to those who don't own any of her albums but like many of her songs. br / br /

4 out of 5 stars Christina's "A DECADE OF HITS"   April 15, 2009
Woody Thompson (Netherlands (Europe))
I heard many songs of Christina Aguilera on the radio and some beautiful clips on VH-1 or MTV, then I was in the shopping center of my City in the Netherlands and saw at a record shop a sell-off of some DVD's of Christina, br /"Genie Gets Her Wish" originally from 2000 but a re-issue from SONY 2009 for 5.- so I bought it drectly, without doubt, hard plastic cover, then I went home and I didn't knew she sang Etta James cover AT LAST (wich I already had in my soul collection, and found out that she can sing better then average what I heard from her ever. So the next day I realized there could be more CD's and DVD's in a sell-off somewhere in the city, then I was confronted after asking the salesman who I asked for titles from Christina, he gave me a copy of the DVD "STRIPPED"(5.-) a concert from 2004 in the UK, with her original hair color BLACK, (not peroxide blonde) wich I like better, and "BACK TO BASICS" a DVD concert in AUSTRALIA 2008(10.-) so I bought tose too, and coming home, I was frustrated why I so late became interested in collecting her material of songs... br /and I couldn't found any more in the city, so in the evening I went on the Internet at AMAZON US and UK, because I earlier found there titles wich I couldn't find elsewhere, and yes bingo at the UK Amazon I found "A DECADE OF HITS" one CD and a BONUS DVD, so I didn't wait no longer and ordered that Album, within two days it was delivered at my home!!!! br /Then I found out that all her hits I knew, but some songs where she don't shout and goes that high with her voice I preffered, like "Ï TURNED TO YOU"", "BEAUTIFUL", "HURT", and that stuff. But in general she can do almost all other songs like "LADY MARMALADE"/ÄT LAST"/"SO EMOTIONAL", and with every duet or with more singers(Marmalade) you hear her voice as the best... About her DVD material, all her concerts she did is no sing some songs, and bye, no the choreography of all her concerts has a theme, you could compare it with "Circue du soleil" all the tricks, dances and flying in the air, makes it exceptional! I'm over to Christina for a month now, and asked myself why my interest so late in Christina Aguilera was developed... at Amazon they have a good selling system, you can hear a short sample of most of the tracks, and a lot of videclips to watch to decide your definite choice! I have included another front wich I like more, that's a personal choice, find out! br /(I saw above before my birthname my nickname Woody Thompson, that's what they call my friends here because I don't like dutch music, and mostly listen to British and American music) br /W.P.H.Schouten,Netherlands
