The New Tracks December 6, 2008 Big Bertha (UK) 53 out of 54 found this review helpful
Having already reviewed Rockferry and giving it a glowing review all I wish to say is that until it was replaced with this Deluxe version it was still the most played CD in my car (much to the annoyance of others who aren't as fond of her music as I am!)
br /
br /The 7 additional tracks on the deluxe version continue in that distinctive Duffy modern take on the 60s style with the perfect mix of upbeat songs and heartfelt melodies.
br /
br /Having played the additional tracks a few times now I like them all but my personal favourites are Rain On Your Parade (already released as a single), Stop which has a great catchy tune and Fool For You - a hauntingly mellow track which I keep finding myself humming.
br /
br /Please Stay - Her cover of the Burt Bacharach song bought a smile to my face as I fondly remember a previous version played and played by me back in the 70's as a pre-teenager wearing my tartan trews lol!
br /
br /I wish record companies would stop re-releasing albums as deluxe editions with just a few extra tracks, though in this instance the 7 additional tracks are worth every penny in my opinion.
br /
br /If you like Duffy you'll love this - I certainly do!
A new star December 17, 2008 Rock Chick 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I had heard people describe Duffy as the new Dusty Springfield. I would say she is a cross between Dusty and a young Lulu. I am a child of the sixties and I love this album. There isn't one song that I can fault. Her voice suits the rock numbers just as well as the ballads - Mercy to Warwick Avenue. I look forward to hearing what she comes up with next.
"AWESOME" December 6, 2008 eagle owl (England) 21 out of 25 found this review helpful
Just had to purchase this, I already have the original but as this came along with new songs on, I thought - "GO FOR IT"! Boy, weren`t it worth it! Awesome stuff. Duffy is the best singer of 2008 no doubt about it.

Simply Wonderful, and worth the extra £££ February 2, 2009 M. White (Uk) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Relaxing, classy music that most people will love, one of the rare wonders in the musical world. This version is well worth the money if you have yet to buy the original album.
Old School Soul, For A New School Audience November 29, 2008 Steven Stewart (steveo.stewart@hotmail.co.uk) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Off the cusp of the Amy Winehouse sound, we're now treated to an immensely talented and soulful singer by the name of Duffy. She has one of those familiar faces that you think you know and one of those voices that you haven't heard for decades, unless you break out your old album collection of course. She flew into the UK charts with her debut single "Mercy" the backing music was nostalgic and the voice unique. Many compared the woman to Ms. Winehouse, but I would certainly put Duffy in a category of her own easily comparing her to the Etta James' of the world.
br /
br /What annoys me in a way is, she's so talented, I mean that with true sincerity but it upsets me that she has now resorted to the robbing tactics of releasing a "Delux" edition version of the album with about 6 new songs, one to be a single. It seems to be the trend of the music companies now as a way of milking as much money from the fans as possible. I would honestly advise that if you haven't bought the regular album already then wait for the delux edition. The extra songs are worth the cash, I just don't think it's right that people should be forced to buy the original album and then should have to fork out again for the delux edition.
br /
br /Top 3 songs are the current singles
br /
br /1. Mercy
br /2. Rain On Your Parade
br /3. Warwick Avenue.
br /
br /Buy it and love it (The delux edition I mean.)
