Simon Pegg's new movie How to Lose friends and Alienate People has stormed to the top of the box office ending Tropic Thunder's reign at the top of the box office.Grossing £1,15 million in it's opening weekend the film, which sees Pegg star alongside Jeff Bridges and Kirsten Dunst, follows Sidney Young is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame and glamour. His alternative magazine, Post Modern Review, pokes fun at the media obsessed stars and bucks trends, and so when Young is offered a job at the diametrically opposed conservative New York based Sharps magazine its something of a shock! Thus begins Sidney's descent into success - his gradual move from derided outsider to confidante of starlet Sophie Maes - and a love affair with colleague Alison Olsen, that will either make him or break him.Liam Neeson's Taken held onto the number two spot for a second week and was the only other film to break the £1 million barrier.Former number one Tropic Thunder fell two places to number three while there was a resurgence at the box office for massive musical hit Mamma Mia which moved up one place from five to four.Death Race rounded of the top five falling one place from number four. There was a disappointing new entry for Brideshead Revisited which only managed a disappointing number eight while Fly Me to the Moon opened at number nine.
