Bus service powered by human waste

A new bus service will be powered by human waste.

The 40-seater Bio-Bus will run on gas from human and food waste - which reportedly produces fewer emissions than diesel - and travel between two British airports.

Manager of GENeco - who are producing the gas - Mohammed Saddiq, told the Bristol Post newspaper: ''Gas-powered vehicles have an important role to play in improving air quality in UK cities, but the Bio-Bus goes further than that and is actually powered by people living in the local area, including quite possibly those on the bus itself.''

Engineers believe Bio-Bus - which is powered by gas generated through the treatment of sewage and food waste that is unfit for human consumption - could provide a sustainable way of fuelling public transport while improving urban air quality.
