Cat calls the emergency services

A cat has phoned the police.

Zeke - who is known for playing with gadgets - is said to have knocked a phone receiver off the table at its animal rescue centre in Florida, in the Southwestern United States and then dialled 911 to be put through to emergency services.

Emergency services were worried when there was no response from the other end of the line and called the centre's reception desk.

Staff at the facility then realised that three-year-old Zeke had made the call.

Workers at the sanctuary said the cat had ''a reputation'' for walking across gadgets.
