Woman presumed dead woke up in hearse

Bujji Aamma, 52, from Berhampur, India, was severely burnt in a fire in her home on February 1.

She was treated at hospital for severe burns to half of her body.

When she didn't open her eyes, her husband, Sibaram Palo, had her taken to the crematorium in a hearse, only for her to wake up on the way.

He told Times of India: "We thought she was dead and informed others in the locality to arrange a hearse van to carry the body to the cremation ground."

K Chiranjibi saw Aamma open her eyes and couldn't believe it.

She said: "Initially we were scared as we had never seen such an incident, though we had heard some stories."

The woman was later picked up alive in the same hearse half an hour later and taken back.
