Joshua James, 23, has been dished out the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he launched the live three-foot crocodilian through the drive-through hatch of Wendy's restaurant in Loxahatchee, California.

Despite the appalling crime, Joshua's mother claimed her son is not a violent man and only did it as a ''joke.''

She told WPTV: ''He's a prankster. He does stuff like this because he thinks it's funny.''

Joshua was arrested for the incident, which took place last October, and later admitted to capturing the deadly creature on Southern Boulevard before taking it to the restaurant.

The young man was also charged with unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator, while the snappy animal was unharmed during the incident and was later released into a nearby canal, according to the television station.
