Parents make big plans for the summer holidays

Although mums and dads are looking forward to spending more time with the children over the coming months, enjoying activities such as trips to the beach (40%), picnics in the park (37%) and more hours in the garden (58%), there’s still some niggling worries in the back of their mind.

Of those surveyed by David Lloyd Clubs, 42% are concerned the summer break won’t live up to expectations for a variety of reasons, including filling every day with plans (48%), meeting up with too many people and spending too much time travelling to activities.

And over a quarter, 27%, confessed they thought their children would be tired of seeing them by the end of the holidays and 53% admitted they often feel like they need a break themselves to relax once the kids are back at school.

Steph Holland, creative director at David Lloyd Clubs commented: “We spend months dreaming about the perfect summer holiday with our families, but our research shows that in reality they can quite often not live up to our expectations as we find ourselves spending precious time off rushing around, entertaining our kids, and buying expensive tickets to days out at crowded theme parks or beaches. It also becomes especially hard when the typical wet British weather hits! “

To help keep families entertained, David Lloyd Clubs run Summer at the Club, a premium resort-style atmosphere with an enhanced activity programme including pools, tennis, spa facilities, cooking masterclasses, face painting, and holiday and sports clubs.

Steph added: “This summer, we’re looking forward to welcoming families to enjoy our exciting and heightened Summer at the Club offerings, together with our best-in-class fitness and wellness facilities. Our clubs will be offering a fantastic summer food and drinks menu, alongside exciting entertainment and activities which families can enjoy together or separately, should they need some time apart.

“With a range of world class facilities under one roof, at David Lloyd Clubs everyone can take full advantage of the longer days, warmer nights, and enjoying quality time together this summer.”

David Lloyd Clubs offers a three-month membership option, meaning that individuals and families can sign up for the summer holiday period.Discover what classes and experiences David Lloyd Clubs offer at www.davidlloyd.co.uk.
