The 81-year-old man from Stamford, Connecticut, reportedly got over excited while in his front garden and tried to get intimate with the shrubbery.
According to the Connecticut Post newspaper, the man, Wallace Berg, was filmed in the act by an outraged neighbour but apologised and fled when he realised he'd been spotted.
Following the incident, Wallace has been charged with breaching the peace and public indecency and will face a court on August 5.
