Spanish street artist Maupal has paid homage to the religious leader by painting a giant mural of 'Superpope' on a building near the Vatican.
The head of the Catholic church can be seen with his right fist clenched in the air as he soars into the sky to fight injustice, carrying a briefcase branded with the word 'valores', meaning values in Spanish.
The Vatican's press office shared the image, adding: ''We share with you a graffiti found in a Roman street near the Vatican.''
This comes as Francis became the first ever Pope to grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
