A tapeworm lived in a man's brain for four years.
The 50-year-old man - who is originally from China but lives in the East Midlands of England - had the 10 centimetre-long parasite living inside of his head for years before doctors realised it was there, despite him visiting them numerous times after suffering with headaches, memory loss and a lack of the sense of smell.
Dr. Effrossyni Gkrania-Klotsas is reported by the Daily Telegraph newspaper as saying: ''We did not expect to see an infection of this kind in the UK, but global travel means that unfamiliar parasites do sometimes appear.''
