Cats produce big hairballs
A teenager in Kyrgyzstan had to be given life-saving surgery after developing a huge hairball in her stomach from eating hair and bits of wool off the carpet at home.
Ayperi Alekseeva, 18, was unable to even drink water without being violently sick because of the hairball.
The hairball weighed 9lbs and posed a serious threat to her life, as she'd started to suffer extreme dehydration and malnourishment.
Doctors at the hospital in he capital city of Bishkek said they'd never been able to find a case involving a hairball this large.
Despite her bizarre habit - which almost led to premature death - doctors said Ayperi is psychologically healthy.
