Danielle Kirkland was diagnosed with the condition in October 2008, which caused her to hiccup every hour and tried to find a cure at numerous hospitals through specialists who failed to help her.

In 2013, Miss Kirkland discovered tizanidine, a drug used as a muscle relaxant, and claims the chemical has helped her get ''back to normal.''

She told the Metro newspaper: ''I start hiccuping straight away. But I'm basically back to normal. No longer do hiccups interfere with my life.

''Now if I do get the hiccups I panic. I always time them. If it goes past an hour I take an acid neutraliser or sugar as it helps.''
