Woman receives 50-year-old birthday cards

A woman has finally received mail that was sent nearly 50 years ago.

''It's unbelievable. I always knew that my parents watch over my family - this validates it.''

Susan Heifetz, 64, was sent two birthday cards and a letter from her boyfriend nearly 45 years ago but failed to receive any of the items in the post until a card from her now deceased parents came through the door wishing her a happy 19th birthday.

Several days later she received another birthday card which had been sent by her brother and a letter from her then boyfriend Sergeant Mark Wolf, who was writing to her from his posting in Vietnam.

Susan first learned of the missing post when she received a phone call from her local mail office.

She told Newsy: ''He said to me on the back of the envelope is a lipstick mark - and at that point I started to cry.

''That was my mother's thing at that time - to seal it with a kiss.

''It's unbelievable. I always knew that my parents watch over my family - this validates it.''
